Staff Software Engineer (m/w/d) for User Management - Zurich, Switzerland
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team. This individual will align engineering strategy with business goals, influencing product and platform decisions. The role focuses on need implementation, providing technical direction for epic breakdown and feature definition across the organization.This is a hybrid position which requires working in the office at least one day per week.
What you'll do: Responsibilities
Technical Implementation & Development
- Drive long-term architectural vision and lead adoption of cutting-edge technologies.
- Serve as organizational technical advisor.
- Guide multiple teams for complex challenges.
- Build and maintain external partnerships with industry experts and/or open-source communities.
- Develop engineering best practices that scale across the company.
- Design and implement secure authentication and authorization solutions, including OAuth flows and integration with identity providers.
Project Scope & Complexity
- Lead need implementation through structured breakdown into epics with multiple features.
- Drive technical strategy ensuring effective need to epic split and feature definition.
- Design, drive and oversee implementation of multi-tenant authentication systems and cross-account access management.
Communication & Impact
- Influence senior leadership on technical decisions and industry-wide discussions.
- Drive technical alignment across organizational boundaries.
Leadership & Growth
- Shape technical direction for major initiatives.
- Mentor staff engineers and technical leaders.
Who you are: Qualifications
Education:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science preferred, or extensive industry experience.
Years and Type of Experience:
- 8-10 years of software engineering experience.
- Experience driving technical strategy at organizational level.
- Experience with enterprise architecture decisions.
- Experience mentoring senior technical staff.
- Experience with identity and access management systems implementation.
- Experience with industry standards development is advantageous.
- Experience leading organizational change is advantageous.
- Proficiency in backend development, with Golang experience being advantageous.
- Experience with frontend development, particularly Flutter, is advantageous.
- Research or academic contributions is a plus.
- Industry speaking engagements is a plus.
Key Skills, Knowledge & Capabilities:
- Expert-level enterprise architecture knowledge.
- Strong technical vision and strategic thinking.
- Proven industry leadership experience.
- Excellence in mentoring technical leaders.
- Expert knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols, OAuth 2.0, and identity provider integration.
- Experience with role-based access control (RBAC) and multi-factor authentication implementation.
- Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken. German language skills are advantageous.
- International project experience is advantageous.
- Published technical content is a plus.
