What We Are Looking For - Scope of Role

 

We are looking for a motived, detail-oriented Patent Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will assist in protecting the Company’s inventions, managing our patent portfolio, and providing guidance on all aspects of intellectual property law.  This individual will be responsible for providing direct IP support to assigned global business units.   

 

What Will You Do - Responsibilities for Employment

 

  • Works actively with product development personnel regarding the intellectual property rights associated with new product development activities.
  • Communicates and interacts with the in-house and outside lawyers, support, and administrative staff to maintain, monitor, and manage the Company's patent portfolio and freedom-to-operate opinions.
  • Advises business management in lP legal matters.
  • Provides infringement clearance opinions for new products to assure that the Company can freely manufacture and market new products throughout the world, in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures.
  • Protects the Company's present and future lP endeavors by obtaining appropriate patent coverage.
  • Reviews and advises on licenses and other agreements involving the Company's lP for the designed business units.
  • Assists in patent litigation and enforcement as needed. 
  • Manages lP costs by reviewing the Company's patent portfolio and making timely maintenance and filing recommendations.
  • Manages the Company’s IP budget for the assigned business units.
  • Participates in due diligence related to acquisitions of lP for new businesses or products.
  • Reviews and advises on licenses and other agreements involving the Company's lP for their designed business units.

 

 

Who You Are - Qualifications

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

 

Years and Type of Experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a major law firm or legal department of a multinational corporation.
  • Admission to practice in at least one state and the before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
