Scope:

The Health Policy Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for highly motivated individuals to gain  hands-on experience in payer relations, healthcare  policy, and market access strategy. This fellowship is designed to develop expertise in navigating the  complex payer landscape, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers, while focusing on improving access to innovative healthcare solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with cross-functional internal teams to understand the organization’s product portfolio and develop payer   engagement strategies to ensure market access and coverage.
  • Monitors and analyzes payer policies, including federal and state regulations, to assess their impact on market access and reimbursement.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders, including payers, healthcare   providers, and patient advocacy groups.
  • Supports payer contract negotiations, including formulary placement and coverage decisions.
  • Develops clear, targeted communication materials for clinicians, payers, and patients to enhance understanding of payer policies and market access strategies.
  • Assists in strategic planning related to  reimbursement trends, payer contracting, and health policy changes.
  • Complies with company and departmental policies and administrative requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as needed

 

Opportunities:

Fellows will have the opportunity to broaden their skills and experiences through optional stretch  assignments, which may include:

  • Supporting marketing initiatives and communication strategies.
  • Assisting in new product launches and associated market access activities.
  • Providing sales support and gaining insights into customer engagement strategies.
  • Participating in field rides with the sales team to understand on-the-ground challenges and opportunities.
  • Engaging with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and assisting in KOL development initiatives.
  • Attending industry conferences to stay updated on market trends and network with healthcare professionals and policy leaders

 

Education:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited and nationally recognized pharmacy school

 

Key Skills, Knowledge & Capabilities:

  • Strong interest in health policy, payer relations, and market access.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence diverse audiences, including clinicians, payers, and patients.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize complex policy information and develop actionable strategies.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in team-based settings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to   detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Skilled in public speaking, training, and education, with the ability to engage and educate diverse audiences.
  • Previous exposure to health policy, managed care, or payer relations through internships, rotations, or coursework is preferred but not required.
