SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Ethics and Compliance Manager (“E&C Manager”) will serve as an ethics and compliance advisor for and liaison to Dentsply Sirona’s businesses in the United States and Canada (North America region), including but not limited to Byte and Wellspect.

 

The E&C Manager will be responsible for promoting a strong culture of compliance at Dentsply Sirona within the North America region, reviewing and evaluating compliance-related issues or concerns, and supporting compliance-related processes (e.g., Third Party due diligence, training). They will be expected to partner closely with management to help employees understand and follow applicable laws and regulations as well as Company policies and procedures, including the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business ConductThey will also have opportunities to support compliance-related projects throughout the North America region and at the global level.

 

The E&C Manager will report directly to the Ethics & Compliance Director, North America, based in the U.S. and will be part of the Global Ethics & Compliance team under the direction of the Vice President, Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer, also based in the U.S.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes a compliant tone at the top and in the middle; serves as an influential leader within the North America region.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and support to regional commercial teams and supporting functions on complex ethics and compliance issues, analyzes alternatives, and works with legal, as appropriate, to propose solutions.
  • Assesses ethics and compliance risks and implements appropriate compliance controls and other mitigating measures, as needed.
  • Drafts, implements, and maintains and/or revises relevant compliance policies, procedures, guidance, and other related documents.
  • Identifies incidents of non-compliance, provides input on the violation process, and proposes recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Leads and/or assists with internal investigations as directed by the regional and/or global Ethics & Compliance and/or Legal departments.
  • Monitors new compliance-related legislation and industry trends in the region to assess changes required in Dentsply Sirona policy.
  • Supports the Company’s data privacy program needs, including compliance with various local data privacy laws in the North America region, working with Legal and global Ethics & Compliance teams.
  • Assists the Ethics & Compliance Director, North America in managing the transparency reporting program and ensuring compliance with U.S. transparency reporting requirements.

 

Training:

  • Develops and maintains an effective ethics and compliance training and communication program for the region, which includes promoting the use of the Compliance Hotline, heightened awareness of the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures.
  • Conducts risk-based regional compliance training, including appropriate introductory training for new employees, as well as ongoing training and education for employees, contractors, and other appropriate third parties.
  • Conducts in-person and web-based trainings.

 

Other Duties:

  • Supports internal and external compliance audits of Dentsply Sirona’s businesses in the region, as necessary.
  • Participates in process improvement projects as necessary.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

 

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher.

 

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience of ethics and compliance and/or legal experience in the healthcare/medical device industry.
  • Experience with direct to consumer (DTC) and/or durable medical equipment (DME) businesses strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with healthcare laws and regulations required, including healthcare fraud and abuse laws, U.S. transparency laws, privacy laws, anti-bribery laws, and other laws and regulations related to the development and commercialization of medical device products.

 

Specific Knowledge/Skills:

  • Familiar with operational, compliance, financial, and HR procedures and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and work as part of a team, able to build relationships across and outside the department.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to express complex information and processes in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.
  • Organized and detail oriented, with a high degree of ethics, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to respond to complex challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Able to seek buy-in from management on compliance requirements.
  • Ability to travel as required.
