Clinical Implementation Specialist, Advanced Orthodontics

 

Overview

Reports to the CIS Manager. Leads adoption, implementation, and utilization of the SureSmile portfolio for Orthodontists and General Dentists. Manages a portfolio of ~20–50 practices and partners with Territory Managers to improve performance through implementation, utilization growth, workflow optimization, and issue resolution.

SureSmile Portfolio: Aligners, IDB, Robotic Bent Wires, DIY Aligners

 

Role Scope

  • Own end-to-end implementation for assigned practices: onboarding, go-live, ramp-up, stabilization, optimization
  • Serve as regional advanced SME for SureSmile workflows and complex cases (Ortho + GP)
  • Own advanced escalations and coordinate internal teams to resolution (Customer Care, GBS, Digital Lab, Product as needed)

 

Key Success Metrics

  • Utilization growth (case starts/submissions) vs quarterly targets
  • Time-to-first-case and time-to-proficiency for newly onboarded practices
  • Reduction in repeat escalations via root-cause fixes and workflow standardization
  • Adoption of advanced features (IDB/advanced planning/RBW) where clinically appropriate
  • Customer satisfaction/retention signals and account expansion

 

Core Responsibilities (outcomes you own)

  • Grow utilization and portfolio performance across assigned practices (Ortho + GP)
  • Deliver successful implementations that convert into sustained, consistent use
  • Increase advanced workflow adoption (IDB/RBW/advanced planning) through consultative coaching and clinical support
  • Reduce escalations and repeat issues by driving durable workflow fixes
  • Provide structured feedback to improve product, training, and customer experience; maintain accurate SFDC tracking

 

Primary Duties (what you do)

  • Deliver in-office and virtual training for doctors/staff during implementation and post-launch optimization
  • Provide advanced case support and workflow coaching (incl. complex cases)
  • Conduct regular utilization/performance reviews and translate metrics into action plans with follow-up cadence
  • Lead IDB training and support go-live/ramp-up onsite (observation, staff coaching, post-visit plan)
  • Coordinate escalations with internal support teams; confirm ownership, timelines, and closure with the customer
  • Share best practices/playbooks with peer CIS teams; support beta/alpha and national initiatives as assigned

 

Travel

  • Typical travel up to 25% overnight, based on customer needs, national initiatives, and territory coverage.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent dental industry experience
  • 5+ years in orthodontics (chairside/treatment coordination strongly preferred)
  • Consulting/training/process improvement experience in an ortho setting
  • Experience supporting clinical teams and treatment consultations
  • Familiarity with digital dentistry workflows (DICOM/STL, treatment planning software, CAD/CAM, 3D printing)
  • Strong consultative communication, analytical problem-solving, and operational follow-through
