Distribution Associate II – Day Shift

 

Job Summary:

 

Loads and unloads materials and goods from incoming and outgoing trucks.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Unpacks and checks pallets coming from the warehouse.  Check for damaged items and shortages.  Corresponds with the warehouse to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Maintains inventory of raw materials, packing components, machine supplies and department safety supplies.
  • Able to use hand truck to move pallets of materials to the work area. 
  • Separates quarantine items from remaining stock.
  • Fills requisitions.
  • Verifies and signs for incoming material transfers.
  • Verify product received from production/warehouse is consistent with the accompanying paperwork with regards to item number, lot number, quantity, etc.
  • Ability to prioritize work schedule based on the daily/hourly requirements.
  • Maintains a clean, neat and safe workplace.
  • Flexible hours based on department needs.
  • Figure gross, net and tare weights.
  • Label containers in compliance with customer requirements and governmental regulations (HMIS labels).
  • Cycle counting and computer entry.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the flow of paperwork and materials per the record retention guidelines as well as interaction with Customer Service, Planning and Production.
  • Handle the creation and distribution of shipping documents as required.
  • Ability to schedule work within the department to meet production needs.
  • Ability to modify and change documents.
  • Fluid knowledge of current ERP system and all functions related to Material Handler role.
  • Under UL direction, provide support when UL is not present. Be able to get the shift started and assign operators to work centers.
  • Point of contact in UL’s absence.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Preferred**

Certifications/Licensing:

            N/A

Years and Type of Experience:

  • 3 years in manufacturing environment required.
  • 2 years of BPCS experience
  • 1 year of experience in document modification in Smart Docs

Key Required Skills, Knowledge and Capabilities:

  • Ability to convert between the Metric System and U.S. Customary System.
  • Must be able to read and follow typed and handwritten instructions.
  • Must be able to use moving equipment such as hand truck.
  • Attention to detail and ability to accurately count.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and metric measurements.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office products preferred.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups and employees in the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, metric measurement and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or diagram form.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to use BPCS.
  • Must have knowledge of BPCS requirements for shipping.
  • Must be able to modify documents in Smart Docs.
  • Must have knowledge of all regulations as they pertain to the transportation of Hazardous Materials.
