Chemical Operator III – Resins Dept. # 3734 - 1st Shift

 

Job Summary:

 

Perform a broad variety of manufacturing assignments/tasks related to operating a variety of manufacturing mixing equipment.

 

Job Duties:

 

  • Responsible for closely following batch formulas used in the production of a variety of products.  Responsibilities include:  properly setting up equipment, weighing out various liquid and powder raw materials (may include converting US weights to METRIC weights), loading mixing equipment with liquids and powders, monitoring process controls and making adjustments and minor repairs to machines as necessary.
  • Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as chemical balance scales, reactors, measuring pumps, distillation equipment vacuum pump, glassware set-ups and other equipment.
  • Records results on standardized forms and writes reports describing procedures used.
  • Prepares graphs and charts.
  • Monitors process and/or loading, unloading, cleaning or setting up of equipment.
  • Processes work orders on time and efficiently according to set standards.
  • Weighs raw materials, final products, etc.
  • Uses statistical process control, including automated data acquisition devices, to monitor quality.
  • Insures compliance with QA, GMP, SOP, FDA, 5 S, and labor standards.
  • Counts and records production units and labor hours.
  • Meet and exceed all quality standards set forth for the department and division.  Accurately and neatly documents all quality documents.
  • Able to understand and apply process adjustments.  Has a working knowledge of a variety of QC testing procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education:

High School Diploma or GED is required

 

Years of Experience:

2-4 years of relevant experience

 

Key Required Skills, Knowledge and Capabilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, metric measurement and decimals.  Ability to use a calculator, convert weights from US standards to METRIC standards and use of Statistical Processes is required.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong computer skills in order to use the software and hardware to promote departmental throughput (including but not limited to BPCS, Master Control, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of all issues that impact manufacturing.  This includes quality testing; material delivery/logistics; production planning/scheduling; and knowledge of daily, weekly, and monthly goals and fully support all actions required to achieve these goals.
  • Associate is expected to have adequate interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Mastered job responsibilities of Chemical Operator I and II.
