Purpose of the Position

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to play an active role in a greenfield medical manufacturing facility investment project. The candidate will be involved across all stages—starting from the design and technical evaluation of electrical systems through procurement, site execution, installation, testing, commissioning, handover, and plant startup. Once the facility becomes operational, the engineer will manage maintenance activities and ensure that the electrical and automation infrastructure is operated reliably, safely, and in compliance with regulations and quality systems.

This position encompasses responsibilities across project execution, procurement, site application, testing, commissioning, and post-startup maintenance processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that systems and applications comply with relevant standards, regulations, occupational health and safety requirements, and medical sector quality expectations.

  • Participate in the engineering design, technical evaluation, and implementation processes of the electrical infrastructure for a greenfield factory investment.

  • Engage in the design and technical assessment of LV (Low Voltage) distribution, transformers, busbars, cabling, generators, DB/MCC/DCC panels, UPS, grounding, and lightning protection systems, and oversee their site implementation.

  • Supervise the design, application, and integration processes of ELV (Extra Low Voltage) systems—such as fire detection, CCTV, access control, data/telecom, and public address/emergency notification—as well as the BMS (Building Management System).

  • Ensure that electrical site applications are executed in accordance with project designs and technical specifications.

  • Manage electrical interfaces with EPCs/contractors, process equipment suppliers, and other engineering disciplines.

  • Evaluate the electrical requirements of process equipment and ensure coordination with the facility infrastructure.

  • Participate in FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), pre-commissioning, commissioning, SAT (Site Acceptance Test), and functional testing for process and electrical equipment; track test protocols, acceptance documentation, and punch lists.

  • Inspect site installations by EPCs/contractors and process equipment suppliers for compliance with project specifications and technical standards; monitor quality, progress, and technical non-conformities.

  • Ensure that as-built drawings and technical documentation for process equipment and electrical systems are completed and kept up to date.

  • Following plant startup, ensure the reliable operation and maintenance of process equipment, electrical systems, HVAC automation, BMS, fire detection, UPS, generators, LV systems, and ELV systems.

  • Establish and update maintenance procedures, instructions, and technical documentation; ensure activities comply with QMS and GMP requirements.

  • Plan Preventive, Corrective, and Predictive Maintenance activities; perform root cause analyses for failures and execute continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Define maintenance strategies, spare parts requirements, and critical stock levels for critical equipment.

  • Monitor energy consumption and develop energy efficiency projects.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognized university.

  • Preferably 8+ years of experience in industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, food, or similar sectors.

  • Hands-on experience in greenfield plant investments, factory setup, or large-scale CAPEX projects.

  • Proven experience in electrical design, site implementation, and commissioning processes.

  • Strong technical knowledge of LV electrical distribution systems, ELV systems, fire detection, BMS, and HVAC electrical/automation infrastructure.

  • Practical knowledge of electrical infrastructure for process machinery and industrial equipment.

  • Ability to read single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, panel drawings, and technical documentation.

  • Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and automation systems; preferably experienced with Siemens TIA Portal.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and preferably EPLAN.

  • Hands-on experience with FAT/SAT, commissioning, and system handover processes.

  • Proven track record in contractor and vendor management.

  • Capability to write technical specifications and User Requirement Specifications (URS).

  • High proficiency in technical English.

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications.

  • Preferred familiarity with GMP, GxP, ISO 13485, or related quality systems within the medical device/pharmaceutical industry.

  • Thorough understanding of occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations.

  • Strong project tracking, problem-solving, coordination, and communication skills.

  • Willingness and suitability for field work and active involvement during intense commissioning phases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in greenfield facility/factory setup investment projects.

  • Project and maintenance experience specifically within the medical device or pharmaceutical industries.

  • Hands-on experience with BMS and HVAC automation systems.

  • Practical experience with electrical and automation systems from manufacturers such as Siemens, Schneider, ABB, etc.

  • Hands-on experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

  • Knowledge of ISO 50001 standards and energy management principles.

  • Ability to actively communicate in English during technical meetings.
