The Senior Manager of External Reporting will play a leading role in the quarterly and annual external reporting process, and will also provide guidance on technical accounting matters, and play a key role in sharing subject matter expertise and guiding business partners through various transactions. This is a critical position in the Chief Accounting Officer’s organization and is tasked with supporting the businesses on accounting inquiries, evaluating and documenting complex accounting issues, supporting acquisitions and other strategic transactions, as well as maintaining the Company’s accounting policies. This position will work collaboratively with other key functions, including Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, Commercial, Investor Relations, and interface with external auditors.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting regulations while being a part of a dynamic and collaborative team.
  • Lead the team preparing and reviewing the Company’s external reporting filings, including the Quarterly Form 10-Qs and Annual Form 10-K, as well as other SEC filings as needed.
  • Develop, streamline, and improve the overall financial reporting process.
  • Partner and collaborate with regional accounting, FP&A, commercial and other teams to identify, assess, and conclude on complex accounting matters.
  • Play a leading role in the oversight and coordination of the external audit and execution of key reporting controls to ensure Company compliance with SOX standards.
  • Monitor the development and applicability of emerging accounting and reporting rules being deliberated by the SEC, FASB, PCAOB, or other regulators.
  • Provide effective guidance to the organization on technical accounting in accordance with US GAAP and company policies, including preparation and review of technical accounting memos.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain the company accounting policies.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors to help coordinate audit requests, including walkthroughs and testing, and to help with documentation related to potential deficiencies and control findings.
  • Assist with preparation of quarterly reporting materials to the Disclosure Committee and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee the accounting for certain areas of higher complexity including stock-based compensation, leasing, derivatives, and preparation of the Company’s statement of cash flows.
  • Develop diverse talent to promote team retention to meet current and future business needs.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Graduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related discipline, preferred.
  • Professional certification in accounting (CPA) that is actively maintained
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in related function which preferably includes accounting for a publicly traded company.
  • Foundational experience in Big 4 public accounting firm strongly preferred;
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations and ability to assess, analyze and document accounting positions.
  • Significant experience working with the requirements of Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
  • Experience with Workiva, HFM, Oracle or SAP applications, preferred.
