Product Training Manager, Implants
Job Summary
The Product Trainer is an individual contributor responsible for deploying and delivering product and technical training that enables field and virtual commercial teams to confidently sell, demonstrate, and support assigned portfolios. This role partners closely with the Vertical Training Lead, Product/GBU partners, and marketing to align training deployment to launch priorities and field performance needs. The Product Trainer facilitates training in virtual, classroom/academy, and in-field (co-travel) formats; assesses training effectiveness through knowledge/skill validation and field application signals; and delivers targeted training interventions to close product knowledge and product-specific capability gaps.
Key Responsibilities
Product Training Delivery (Virtual, Classroom, In-Field)
- Deliver product and technical training for assigned portfolio(s) in virtual, in-person, and blended formats, including hands-on sessions, demonstrations, and applied practice.
- Support new hire onboarding for the portfolio, ensuring learners build baseline product knowledge, workflow understanding, and demo proficiency within expected timeframes.
- Conduct in-field training and co-travel observations to reinforce classroom learning, provide real-time coaching, and validate skill application in customer-facing scenarios.
- Facilitate train-the-trainer and Field Training Ambassador (FTA) enablement as applicable, aligning on expectations, field tools, and coaching guides for consistent execution.
- Deploy and deliver portfolio sales education across virtual, academy/classroom, and in-field formats, including integrated workflows and end-to-end customer use cases.
- Drive seller readiness through competency-based product training, ensuring teams can position workflows, articulate value propositions, and execute product demonstrations.
- Reinforce learning through practice, role plays, demo drills, and in-field coaching to accelerate application and consistency in customer-facing execution.
- Partner with product, marketing, and clinical teams to stay aligned to current capabilities, messaging, and roadmap priorities; reflect updates in deployed training and reinforcement.
- Facilitate scenario-based practice and knowledge/skill checks that validate how well sellers can apply portfolio messaging and workflows to drive customer outcomes.
- Maintain portfolio learner resources within Showpad or the Sales Training Library to ensure consistent access, version control, and adoption across the sales organization.
Launch Enablement & Training Deployment
- Deploy portfolio training aligned to launch timelines and business priorities (prework, live sessions, reinforcement cadence, office hours), in coordination with the Vertical Training Lead.
- Stay current on portfolio updates, competitive insights, and messaging changes by partnering with product, marketing, and subject matter experts; incorporate updates into deployed training and reinforcement.
- Identify product knowledge and product-specific capability gaps using assessment results, field observations, call feedback, and stakeholder inputs; deliver targeted interventions to close gaps (refresher training, demos, teach-backs, coaching guides, and practice sessions).
- Ensure portfolio learner resources are current and easy to access in Showpad or the designated Sales Training Library, following team standards and version-control expectations.
Training Execution & Coordination
- Coordinate training deployment with the Vertical Training Lead (audience targeting, session scheduling, prerequisites, and reinforcement plan) and provide inputs for the rolling training calendar.
- Own end-to-end deployment readiness for assigned sessions (agenda, demo environment/setup, materials, equipment needs) and coordinate required logistics with internal partners.
- Deliver consistent learner communications for portfolio training (prework expectations, what-to-bring, completion requirements) using standard templates and timelines.
- Serve as a portfolio point of contact for product training questions, routing items as needed to product, clinical, or service partners.
Evaluation, Measurement & Continuous Improvement
- Implement minimum evaluation standards for all courses, including:
- Level 1: Learner feedback
- Level 2: Knowledge and/or skill assessments
- Track training deployment and effectiveness using a standardized scorecard (attendance, completion, Level 1/2 outcomes, certification rates where applicable, and field application signals from co-travels/observations).
- Use learner results, teach-backs, and field observations to diagnose product knowledge and product-specific capability gaps; deliver timely interventions to close gaps (targeted refreshers, practice/role plays, demo drills, office hours, and in-field coaching/co-travel follow-ups).
- Provide the Vertical Training Lead with training effectiveness insights and recommended actions (what’s working/not working, common objections, adoption barriers, and prioritized intervention plan based on data).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with commercial marketing, sales leadership, and product teams to align training deployment to messaging, strategy, launch timing, and field needs.
- Use feedback from sales representatives and leaders to refine training programs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Education, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in product training, clinical education, sales enablement, sales, or a related commercial role; dental/medical device experience preferred.
- Experience delivering product training in virtual, classroom, and field-based environments, including hands-on demonstrations and reinforcement/coaching.
- Demonstrated ability to assess learning effectiveness (knowledge/skill validation and field application) and deliver interventions that improve readiness and performance.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Ability to deploy training programs consistently (prework, live facilitation, reinforcement) and drive learner accountability for completion and proficiency.
- Ability to demonstrate products and workflows confidently, including hands-on facilitation and troubleshooting in a training environment, certified for all products across the vertical.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously.
- Data-driven mindset with experience tracking training effectiveness and learning outcomes.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
Travel
Ability to travel as required for classroom/academy training and in-field co-travel support. 50-75% Travel.
The base salary for this role in the state of North Carolina is between $90,000 to $110,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
