R&D Engineer Prototyping & Testing (m/f/d)

 

Would you like to work as an engineer not only designing products, but actively shaping them from the initial idea through to validation? In this role, you will work on challenging development projects and stay close to the technology. You will take responsibility for testing, trials, and prototypes, ensuring that new solutions perform reliably under real-world conditions.

You will combine analytical thinking with hands-on work — from test planning and prototype assembly to troubleshooting complex systems. As part of interdisciplinary project teams, you will contribute your technical expertise, further develop existing solutions, and actively help bring innovative, high-quality products to series production.

 

Your Responsibilities

 

 

Testing and Endurance Testing

  • Development and setup of endurance test rigs and test fixtures
  • Planning, execution, and evaluation of test programs
  • Performing measurement tasks in mechanics, electronics, pneumatics, and hydraulics
  • Developing and building test fixtures for components
  • Building prototypes to validate design and reliability
  • Commissioning electrically driven machines in the prototype stage
  • Conducting tests to ensure compliance with internal and external standards
  • Responsibility for assigned endurance test laboratories

 

Research & Innovation

  • Monitoring new technologies, materials, and processes in dental product development to drive innovation
  • Translating insights into product ideas and requirements

 

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensuring that all designs and documentation comply with the quality management system requirements
  • Supporting internal and external audits

 

Troubleshooting & Optimization

  • Analyzing design issues in complex devices during development and after market launch
  • Participating in risk analyses and root cause analyses (e.g. FMEA)

 

Intellectual Property Protection

  • Supporting the preparation of patent applications

 

Travel
  • International business travel up to a maximum of 5%

 

 

Your Profile

 

Education

  • University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Mechatronics
  • Completed vocational training in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering is a plus
  • Several years of professional experience in endurance testing or product development, ideally in the medical technology industry or in commissioning complex machinery

 

Key Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Knowledge of the current Machinery Directive
  • Programming skills in LabVIEW, PLC (SPS), C++, and ANSI C for microcontrollers
  • Strong team-oriented working style
  • Highly self-organized with a high level of independence
  • Very good German both written and spoken, english is a plus
